About Stephanie Froebel
about ME
Hi, my name is Stephanie Froebel and I am a documentary filmmaker and writer seeking to reconnect people with the natural world.
I am a full-time student at Minerva University where I’ve lived in 7 countries across 4 continents. I am studying Applied Humanities and Ecology, focusing on the interfaces between humans and nonhuman counterparts.
Currently, I am directing a documentary film about the connection between monkeys and humans in the Bolivian Amazon. This project represents the culmination of my experience with primates on 4 continents, blending scientific conservation and historical arts.
My Journey
Living in 8 international regions has given me a vast array of experiences, from monkey rehabilitation to historical walking tours, to camera trap analysis, to exhibition design, to film, and more.

One thought that has been pulsing through my mind is the irreparability of memory lost to images. With the collection of moving and still images, we concentrate our memory on that which we repeatedly observe. What we begin to most remember no longer is the recollection of the event, but the recollection of what these images present to us.
